after the rambling last night, this is pretty random, but here goes.
(a) my new default browser page on my home computer is barack obama is your new bicycle. i absolutely love it; it makes me smile every single time i open my browser. check it out :)
(2) there are lots of beautiful gardens along the route on which i walk the dogs--i'm sure i've mentioned them before, because they're just so soothing and pretty. they'd be inspiring if i weren't such a ridiculously inept gardener. (though there are three really pretty flowers blooming in three different parts of our yard that i know i never planted--one looks like an orange asian lily that's in our back neighbors' yard, another is a really vibrant and healthy creeping plant with seriously purple flowers, and the third is a little guy with hanging little lavender flowers. so, thanks phantom gardener!) anyway, i have noticed a few nonflowering plants in some of the neighborhood gardens and finally decided that i wanted to know what they were badly enough to take photos of them. unfortunately, the tremor precludes clear photos (yes, this is why all of my photos are blurry, no matter how spiffy the camera), but here they are. if you can identify any of these, i'd love to know! (lis and jen, i'm looking at you.)
