CoCo's Cupcakes

We worked with Shea at CoCo's to do a variety of cupcakes for our wedding reception. We had a wonderful tasting at CoCo's and Shea was really great to work with. The cupcakes arrived at our reception on-time and looked beautiful. They tasted amazing (as we expected)! They give discounts on buying several dozen cupcakes (we ordered 10 dozen). We chose them because they make wonderful vegan cupcakes - we had them make about half of our cupcakes vegan and our guests couldn't tell. We decided on a disposable cardboard display and I thought it looked very nice.  I highly recommend Coco's - http://www.cocoscupcakes.com.

Signature Desserts

We wanted to have multiple desserts instead of a wedding cake at our reception. We were looking for a place that made fruit and custard tarts and that's how we found Signature Desserts in Castle Shannon. We worked with Linda from Signature Desserts and had a great tasting - she was very nice, funny, and professional. She really encouraged us to go with one of her very affordable wedding packages including a traditional wedding cake. We weren't interested in the wedding cake but she was still willing to give us a great deal on the number of fruit tarts we wanted. Burd's Home Bakery (A+)

Thanks to Janie, the cake was the smoothest part of my wedding planning. She was gracious enough to meet with me, last minute, when I was in town for the weekend. She had many photographs of cakes and with her help, I was able to decide exactly what I wanted.    

The cake turned out beautiful- just as I had imagined, and delicious- I ate the whole piece, and I don’t usually do that with cake.

She only charges 95 cents/piece and gives you 12 flavors to choose from. I chose the chocolate amaretto plus white- two flavors per slice.

I highly recommend Burd’s bakery for your wedding cake. She also makes cakes for birthdays and other occasions. 724-694-8443

Creative Confections by Kim (A+)

Kim is a friend of my sisters who runs her own bakery business. And everything she makes is so delicious! I found a style of cake I liked, and showed it to her. She was able to duplicate it, and I couldn't have been more pleased. It was a beautiful cake. For tastings so we could decide on flavors, she actually made us about 5 mini cakes to try. Mmmmm, mmm good ;-) Her prices are much cheaper than bakeries, but the quality excellent. She also made brownies for my rehearsal dinner, which were a big hit. I'd recommend her for all of your baked good needs.

Rania's Catering - A

Caterer - Rania's Catering (Rania Harris) -  - Rania and her staff are just outstanding. I was anxious to find a caterer that could do Kosher food and make it worth the extra cost. Rania makes everything from scratch, she uses all organic fruits and veggies and she just knows good food and good service. She was worth a little extra expense and my guests LOVED the food. Everything was delicious!!! Rania is so well known and respected in the Pittsburgh area that I just have to give her rave reviews for her attention to detail and professionalism. She is such a busy lady but she managed to give us personal attention and really make all of the food exactly as we wanted. Her staff is unbelievably professional and attentive to all of the guests. Rania worked with my budget down to the last detail. She was patient with my questions and concerns and always responded to my emails and calls. I would HIGHLY recommend using her for anything food related!!! She is a Pittsburgh icon and darn good caterer and businesswoman. Her passion for food comes out in everything she does.

Of course we all hear such great stories about Tammy and this one is no different.  Hank and I wanted a very simple design and she did exactly what we wanted.  We adored her cakes taste-wise and they are truly works of art. Hank had no idea that a grooms cake was coming as well, but Tammy and I conspired for a long time about the Hostess grooms cake.  Guests were surrounding the cake table all night taking pictures!  I left Tammy flowers to use on the cake if she wanted because I did all the centerpieces myself and didn’t have a florist coming to the reception venue.  Tammy did such a wonderful job!  We loved our cake and so did our guests.  Guests that don’t usually eat cake insisted that when they saw how great it looked when sliced, they HAD to eat it and they were not disappointed.  Of course, the Hostess cake, that thing was nearly down to the last Twinkie by the end of the night.  Tammy is a very special vendor.  I truly think she is a gem in the wedding business.  She’s fun to work with, reasonably priced and a true master of her work. I cannot recommend her to brides enough.

Who does not love Tammy? She really went the extra mile for us and designed a cake that matched our invitations perfectly and included an extra layer in our middle tier for free just because she thought the design would look better that way. The cake was yummy and an absolute piece of art. I have to give a special thank you shout out to the Knotties because we never would have found Tammy without this board.

Tammy definitely lives up to the hype! She was so great to work with over the past year. She was so excited to do something unique! And her cake was fabulous, everyone commented on how great it tasted! Everyone raves about her for a reason, she really is that great!

Wedding Cake – Carol’s Cake – (A+)

OMG – our cake was so yummy and beautiful! They did an outstanding job and when I saw the cake at the PAA at 4:00 when I got there, I could have cried it was so beautiful! We even had extra cake to have the next day, along with our anniversary cake all boxed up and ready to go. Her cakes are very moist and she decorates them beautifully! For $1.85 a person, you can’t beat her pricing! She worked with me to design my cake design and was very helpful in picking out my cake stand that I purchased (which by the way, if you can afford it, a cake stand is a wonderful splurge that really dresses up your cake!).
